Do we think enough?

Do we think enough?

Proper thinking is crucial because it allows us to process information, solve problems, make decisions, and understand the world around us. It helps us to reflect on our experiences, learn from them, and apply that knowledge to future situations. Critical thinking, in particular, enables us to evaluate arguments, identify biases, and make reasoned judgments.

All too often, we do, we don’t think!

Why don’t we think enough. It could be the fast-paced nature of our lives, often leaving little time for reflection and deep thinking. Being constantly bombarded with information and distractions, can make it difficult to focus and think critically. Further, thinking can be mentally taxing, and our brains may prefer to take the path of least resistance, relying on habits, automatic responses and ready-made ‘solutions’ instead of engaging in deeper thought. Finally, for some a lack of the necessary skills or confidence to think critically may lead to avoidance of critical active thinking.

Thinking is one of the four key values of ThinkingHR, the others being Curiosity, Simplicity and Trust. These values underpin the ways of working and intent at Thinking HR. We ask questions, we think, we offer simple, practical solutions and we establish trust.

Thinking is both a noun and an adjective – it’s a “what” and a “how”.

In the context of ThinkingHR it’s also twofold: 1) are you thinking about what you need from HR? 2) Is your HR team actively thinking about what your business needs? Answer these questions and you’ll also start to deliver the ‘why’ for HR – demonstrating real business aligned purpose.

And as Henry Ford said, thinking isn’t easy:

“Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is probably the reason why so few engage in it”

HR is not just about the perfect process – with great thinking you can really see how HR can deliver as a true business partner.
